Considering all the changes and additions to the Texans on the defensive side, this is how we project the starting defense would look if they started playing now.

Photos Of The Projected Starters

DE Antonio Smith
Smith will lineup on the left side of the three-man front.

NT Shaun Cody
Right now, it looks like Cody will play the nose position of the three-man front.

DE J.J. Watt
The rookie, a first-round draft pick out of Wisconsin, is expected to start right away and will line up on the right side, opposite of Antonio Smith.

OLB Mario Williams
Defensive coordinator Wade Phillips is moving Mario from defensive end to outside linebacker.

LB DeMeco Ryans
Ryans will return to captain the Texans defense and will play on the inside.

LB Brian Cushing
Cushing will play in the middle, to the right of DeMeco Ryans.

OLB Connor Barwin
We think Barwin will play opposite of Mario Williams as an outside linebacker.

CB Kareem Jackson
Jackson, whose rookie struggles were painful to watch, is still considered a starting cornerback.

CB Johnathan Joseph
The veteran cornerback was brought in to be the veteran leader and playmaker of the secondary.

S Danieal Manning
Manning will start at safety.

S Glover Quin
Wade Phillips is moving Quin from cornerback to safety, where he will start.

Tell what you think about this starting lineup under new defensive coordinator Wade Phillips.
