A ProFootballWeekly.com report suggests the Texans won’t be re-signing fullback Vonta Leach and he “is not likely to return next season.”

Last season, Leach earned his first trip to the Pro Bowl by leading the way for running back Arian Foster to earn the rushing title with 1,616 yards. Why break up a good tandem?

Leach, who will become an unrestricted free agent once a new labor agreement is in place, has not only been efficient in the run game but has been an excellent blocker in the passing game.

The report also suggests Leach is wanting to be the highest-paid fullback in the NFL. The desire could be all for naught with a team like the Texans that has had its focus on throwing the ball the last few seasons despite coach Gary Kubiak’s persistent verbal commitment to an equal pass-run ratio.

The eight-year veteran out of East Carolina has played with the Texans for five seasons after a couple of seasons with the Packers.
