The Memphis Grizzlies fought their way into the playoffs, then they fought to beat the top-seeded San Antonio Spurs to win Game 1 of the first round of the playoffs.
The Grizzlies made 60-percent of their shots, while the Spurs shot 40 percent throughout the game.
Memphis power forward Zach Randolph lead both teams in scoring with 25 points. Center Marc Gasol added 24 for the Grizzlies, while point guard Mike Conley scored 15. O.J. Mayo came off the bench to score 13 points. Former Rocket forward Shane Battier also came off the bench to score 10 points including the game-winning 3-pointer.
Spurs point guard Tony Parker lead his team in scoring with 20 points. Three of starters had double-digit scoring – power forward Tim Duncan with 16 points, guard Grant Hill with 15 points and forward Richard Jefferson with 13 points. Forward Matt Bonner came off the bench for 12 points as did point guard Gary Neal for 10 points.
