Employees and visitors have been allowed to re-enter Houston City Hall after a brief scare involving a suspicious package found outside the building.
After the package was found around 7:45 a.m. Monday, the building was placed on lockdown. A city spokesperson told FOX 26 News no one was allowed to enter City Hall and security staff was escorting city employees out of the building.
Streets surrounding City Hall were closed to traffic as police responded to the suspicious package.
Members of the Houston Police Department bomb squad detonated the package around 8:30 a.m. and allowed people to enter the building.
Police learned the suspicious pacakge was a duffle bag that contained toys, wires and nails.
