A southwest Houston apartment fire has left several families without a place to live.
The two-alarm fire was reported around 2 a.m. Monday on Richmond near Briarpark.
On arrival, Houston firefighters found heavy flames shooting from the two-story apartment building. They were able to make a fast attack and assisted in evacuating one family that did not realize the building was on fire.
One woman had to be treated for smoke inhalation and was transported to the hospital. No other injuries were reported.
In all, six units were burned and eight others were left with water and smoke damage.
Arson investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
